Vuvuzela--the word of the World Cup

"Vuvuzela" has been voted the word of the World Cup by global linguists who said Monday the tournament will be best remembered for the name of South Africa's deafening trumpet.

"Long after individual matches and goals are forgotten, this will be remembered as the Vuvuzela World Cup," said Jurga Zilinskiene, managing director of London-based firm Today Translations.

"Vuvuzela" was chosen by 75 percent of more than 320 linguists from over 60 countries, who were asked to choose the word with the biggest impact on the tournament.

"Thanks to the World Cup, vuvuzela has the entered the shared language of the world and joined the ranks of words that need no translation," said Zilinskiene.

The tuneless plastic horn blown by fans was a top World Cup newsmaker and has beensnapped up abroad. Experts have warned it can damage hearing.

The much-debated official Jabulani ball, mascotZakumi and the Bafana Bafana national South African team each won four percent of the votes.

Victoria Beckham is voted the World's Most Glamorous Celebrity

She's rarely seen out of her designer dresses and expensive high heels.

So after being voted the World's Most Glamorous Celebrity, Victoria Beckham showed exactly why she deserved the title as she lunched in London May.

After flying in from Los Angeles on Tuesday, the mother-of-three hit Mayfair for lunch in a ruffled black mini-dress and nude ankle strap heels.

Appearing to have overcome her jetlag after the 10 and a half hour flight, the 36-year-old joined a friend for lunch at the lavish Wolseley restaurant in Piccadilly.
Beckham's arrival in the capital came as she beat a host of stars to the title of World's Most Glamorous Celebrity in a poll by cosmetics firm Max Factor.

A Max Factor spokesman said:'She never leaves home without being fully made-up and her signature glossy pout has become her calling card.

Miley Cyrus-Stay

Miley Cyrus - Stay

Well it’s good to hear your voice
I hope you’re doing fine
And if you ever wonder
I’m lonely here tonight
Lost here in this moment
Time keeps slipping by
If I could have just one wish
I’d have you by my side

Oooohh I miss you
Oooohh I need you

And I love you more than I did before
And if today I don’t see your face
Nothing’s changed, no one can take your place
It gets harder everyday
Say you love me more than you did before
And I’m sorry it’s this way
But I’m coming home, I’ll be coming home
And if you ask me I will stay, I will stay

Well I tried to live without you
But tears fall from my eyes
I’m alone and I feel empty
I’m torn apart inside

I look up at the starts
Hoping you are doing the same
And somehow I feel closer
And I can hear you say

Oooohh I miss you
Oooohh I need you

And I love you more than I did before
And if today I don’t see your face
Nothing’s changed, no one can take your place
It gets harder everyday
Say you love me more than you did before
And I’m sorry it’s this way
But I’m coming home, I’ll be coming home
And if you ask me I will stay, I will stay, always stay

I never wanna lose you
And if I had to I would choose you
So stay, please always stay
You’re the one that I hold on to
My heart would stop without you

I love you more than I did before
And if today I don’t see your face
Nothing’s changed, no one can take your place
It gets harder everyday
Say you love me more than you did before
And I’m sorry that it’s this way
But I’m coming home, I’ll be coming home
And if you ask me I will stay, I will stay, I’ll always stay

And I love you more than I did before
And I’m sorry that it’s this way
But I’m coming home, I’ll be coming home
And if you ask I will stay, I will stay, I will stay

Paul The Octopus Could Be Worth MILLIONS

Paul the Octopus, the precious prophet whose prescient predictions proved unprecedented during the World Cup, could become a millionaire mollusk if he plays his cards right. The underwater intellectual could be worth $4.5 million, PR specialist Max Clifford tells CNN.

The German genius shocked the world by retiring from the prediction profession, but the brilliant octopus could still be available for commercials and other endorsements.

A London marketer imagined one possible marketing effort: "A good use for him would be in adverts featuring two competing brands, such as Coke or Pepsi. Which does Paul prefer?"

Indeed, one Pepsi ad already features an octopoid endorsement, but it lacks Paul's personal seal of approval.

While Paul may be able to provide lucrative services to marketers, he could face increased danger if he becomes a moneyed mollusk. He already received death threats during the World Cup.

Spain, sealife, soccer

With a single goal in extra time, Spain defeated the Netherlands to lift the World Cup and become only the eighth country to do so in the eponymous tournament’s 80-year history.

Deserving winners? Yes, unquestionably.

A team with nine players from clubs in New Zealand and two without clubs entirely left its mark by scoring first against a team picked from the ranks of the Italian superpowers. It entered the final group game with a realistic chance of qualifying for the knockout stage, and while that ultimately did not happen, the Kiwis probably found a few new fans along the way.

They may not have dazzled us with skill, but they stayed together and never gave up in a performance made all the more admirable by the antics of global superstars like the French, who petulantly imploded as the world’s media watched on.

And Stanford can be proud of this. Proud that its first ever representation at a World Cup, All Whites players Simon Elliot ’99 and Ryan Nelsen ’01, left with heads held high, undefeated!

Justin Bebier- Never Say Never

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Directed by: David Slade
Written by: Melissa Rosenberg (screenplay), Stephenie Meyer (novel)
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anna Kendrick

Hold on a second, wh
at happened?Where am I? Suddenly, I’ve seen not one but two Twilight films, and what’s more, I
actually have something positive to say about this one. Ahem — Eclipse is 100% better than New Moon, a film I initially scored one star. Make of that what you will, mathematicians.

Like many males, I’m an outsider on the Stephenie Meyer phenomenon. I haven’t read her books, and I laugh derisively at the cardboard Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner chilling outside the local record store (though maybe I’m just jealous no one will pay $29.99 for a life-sized stand-up of me). Regardless, last November I decided to give the series a chance to win me over. It did not.

However, the improvements this third installment wields over its predecessor are immediately apparent. For starters, Chris Weitz, who directed New Moon, along with the equally contemptible adaptation of Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass, abdicated the director’s chair to David Slade, helmer of Hard Candy and 3
0 Days of Night. Slade seems an unusual choice, and one, I can only assume, was made with the intention of casting the Twilight net clear across the gender gap, coaxing more teenage menfolk into the seats by way of grittier, more competent action. Also, more of it.

Still, Eclipse is anything but action-packed, and most of the time it feels as if the script is working against that goal. Slade can class up the werewolf on vampire (on vampire) scuffles till the bats come home, but nothing can change the fact that his film is founded on one of the most unnecessarily redundant screenplays in cinematic history. In fact, so little happens in either of the latter two Twilight films that most of New Moon could be stricken from the series, and would be better for it.

But instead, we’ve got star-crossed lovers Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Pattinson) picking up precisely where they left off, or maybe even earlier. To summarize: Bella wants to be a vampire; Edwards wants to be married — you’d think they’d reach common ground at the ‘eternity’ part. But while their apparently passionate relationship is at loggerheads, Jacob T. Wolf (Lautner) is determined to thwart the union and win over Bella, who seems more uncertain than ever which monster man she’s more interested in.

'Due Date' Trailer Kind of Like Watching 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' Through a Shotglass

For my money, Todd Phillips films have never really been able to live up to the illusion of mania and outlandishness they present that basically only stems from the leads' established personas. The Hangover, though a career high for him and a pretty entertaining film, really isn't the classic its box office numbers, Golden Globe, and Facebook quote generators would imply--even though the cast and trailers really made it seem like it could be. For all that promise he could still only come home with a low B on the exam? Come on. Let's give him one more try with Due Date, a non-Road Trip Todd Phillips road trip movie that puts Zach Galifanakis in a car with Robert Downey Jr., leading to all sorts of RDJ calm rage. And also Jamie Foxx is there, because society demands The Soloist 2, whatever form it may take.

Ronaldo hails nearly-man Klose

Ronaldo has praised Miroslav Klose's scoring achievements after the German striker fell just short of the Brazilian World Cup winner's 15-goal all-time tournament record.

Klose's four goals in South Africa took him to 14 strikes across the past three World Cups, one less than Ronaldo's record tally amassed during the 1998, 2002 and 2006 tournaments.

A back injury cruelly robbed Klose the chance to play in Germany's third-place play-off against Uruguay, a traditionally high-scoring fixture in which he would have had a strong chance of entering the history books. At 32, Klose is unlikely to play in another World Cup.

Ronaldo said he would have been happy to see Klose break his record, but praised his 14-goal tally as a "fantastic" achievement.

"Congratulations to Klose, to score 14 goals at the World Cup is fantastic. It's sad that he did not play on Saturday," Ronaldo told AFP. "I was not opposed to him breaking my record. I have made my history. Now it is time for others to write their stories."

Germany coach Joachim Low said Klose wanted to play against Uruguay despite his injury but ultimately put the team ahead of his personal ambitions.

Low said: "He really wanted to play, but after training on Saturday he said to me that would not be able to take his place in the team. He was disappointed but he knew that we couldn't allow a player who was only 80-percent fit to take part."
